PRK in Renton, WA

Young Couple Smiling - PRK Surgery

Discover a different way than LASIK to permanently correct your vision. For our patients who do not qualify for LASIK eye surgery, we provide an alternative by performing PRK surgery in Renton, WA. Approved by the FDA in 1996, PRK (photorefractive keratectomy) reshapes the cornea to accurately focus light on your retina.

PRK eye surgery is typically used instead of LASIK because the cornea is misshapen or too thin to create a corneal flap. PRK is a safe long-term solution for nearsightedness, farsightedness, and astigmatism. Allow our PRK surgeon to determine if LASIK or PRK is right for you.

Dedicated & Leading Vision Correction Surgeons

If you need surgery, it's important to go to physicians that are highly trained, experienced, and leading experts in the field. At King LASIK, our team of PRK surgeons has performed more than 100,000 successful LASIK and PRK surgeries throughout the years.

With PRK surgery, we use the same state-of-the-art, computer-controlled laser to painlessly reshape your cornea. Due to our advanced equipment and experience, the procedure takes only few minutes to complete. A few of the reasons your doctor may suggest PRK over LASIK include:

You have thin corneas or irregularly shaped corneas
You are predisposed to trauma (i.e., avid athlete)
You are a soldier in the US armed forces
 You have certain corneal dystrophies
You have had radial keratotomy, retinal tears,
   or glaucoma surgery
 You have very large pupils
 You have irregular astigmatism

PRK Eye Surgery: A Safer Alternative

Even though LASIK is extremely safe surgery, PRK eye surgery is even safer. Keep in mind that no surgery is 100% risk-free. However, because there is no corneal flap created with PRK, patients have zero flap-related complications, such as incomplete flap, debris under the flap, or inflammation. Even though it takes a few days longer for PRK patients to heal, the results are just as reliable as LASIK.
